As adults we are often faced with regrets we have for things we never did or haven’t the time to do. Quite often one of those regrets is that you never learn to play an instrument like the piano. Now you face a hectic life full of work and family and you can’t see the time to fit anything like that in, or the money. But nowadays how people learn has evolved and you have a few options when it comes to taking piano lessons.
The traditional method of learning the piano involves visiting a person’s home or studio and normally you pay by the hour or per class, or you sign up for so many classes and pay for them in advance. You usually get to decide yourself how many classes you want a week and most teachers will find slots that suit your schedule. The more you manage to fit in, the quicker you will achieve your goal.
With the internet now comes the option of classes online. There are live teachers you can web cam with or there are videos you can watch. This may suit some better because it means you can wait until the kids are in bed or when they are out, in between other chores. You can watch as many as you want and work as quickly as you want. You are also not having to travel anywhere.
Lastly you can have a look at the many teach yourself how to play books that you can buy. Make sure you choose one that makes sense to you, but this at the least will give you the basics of the instrument while also teaching you how to read sheet music.
If you want to learn the piano, do not let life get in the way. It is never too late, just sit down with your calender and look at how much you can afford. This will help you decide which route of learning is best for you at that time. If you want to have a certain amount of skill within a time frame that is also something to consider as you choose. Remember whichever you choose if it doesn’t work out you can always try another!
